INCORPORATED JUNE 30, 2005
“To preserve the history of Beverly, using it to educate its citizens and build community.”
Members of the Olde Towne Beverly Historical Society will lead guided tours through the neighbourhood, identifying sites of historical significance. These walks can be geared to fit within walking distance of the participating school group; horse drawn wagon tours may cover greater distances.
Students will learn about former mine sites and garbage dumps that are now city parks, the oldest cenotaph in Alberta, the location of the old town hall, street numbering and other important information. Where the old landmarks are missing, photographs will give context. The rich soil and coal seams will be discussed.
